ABBOTTABAD: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi inaugurated the newly developed Shimla Hill Park in Abbottabad on Saturday.
The state-of-the-art recreational facility has been developed across 702 kanals and is expected to provide residents with a major public space for recreation, tourism and outdoor activities.
During the inauguration ceremony, Afridi described the park as a gift from the Imran Khan government to the people of Abbottabad.
Rs200 Billion Khushal Hazara Programme Announced
Speaking at the ceremony, Chief Minister Sohail Afridi thanked the people of Abbottabad for their support for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in previous elections.
He said the provincial government has allocated Rs200 billion under the Khushal Hazara Programme to accelerate development across the Hazara division.
According to the chief minister, Rs150 billion has been allocated for development projects, while another Rs50 billion will be used to promote tourism across the region.
The government expects investment in tourism infrastructure to strengthen the local economy and create more opportunities for residents.
Rs1.4 Billion Allocated to Tackle Urban Flooding
Afridi also announced Rs1.4 billion to address Abbottabad’s urban flooding problem.
The funding will be used to improve measures aimed at dealing with rainwater and flooding in the city.
The chief minister also highlighted the development of District Headquarters Hospital Abbottabad, saying sufficient funds have been allocated for the project under the provincial government’s flagship programme.
He said the hospital project would be completed on a priority basis.
Afridi noted that residents have been waiting for the completion of the hospital project and assured that the government would focus on completing it without unnecessary delays.
The inauguration of Shimla Hill Park, along with the announced development and tourism projects, is expected to add to Abbottabad’s recreational infrastructure while supporting broader development across the Hazara division.
