Tensions surrounding Bollywood star Aamir Khan have escalated following reports of protests, inflammatory remarks, and death threats after his recent marriage. The developments have sparked widespread concern over the actorโs personal safety and renewed debate about accountability for public statements.
According to Indian media reports, activists linked to extremist Hindu groups staged demonstrations after Aamir Khanโs third marriage with Gouri Spratt. Protesters accused the actor of repeatedly marrying women from Hindu families. During the demonstrations, participants burned his effigy and chanted slogans against him.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra minister Nitish Rane reportedly criticised Aamir Khanโs personal life and marriages. His remarks further intensified the controversy, bringing political attention to an issue that had already generated significant public debate.
The situation became more serious after extremist religious leader Jagadguru Paramhansa Acharya reportedly announced a reward of 50 million Indian rupees for anyone who killed the actor. According to media reports, Acharya made the statement while repeating allegations regarding Aamir Khanโs personal relationships. The reported remarks quickly triggered criticism across social media and raised concerns about possible incitement to violence.
Furthermore, reports claimed Acharya said he would bear his own legal expenses in connection with the offer. Consequently, the statement has prompted questions about whether authorities will investigate the remarks or pursue legal action.
So far, Aamir Khan and his representatives have not issued any public response to the controversy or the reported threat. Likewise, it remains unclear whether Indian police have launched an investigation into the alleged statement.
The controversy follows Aamir Khanโs reported marriage to his longtime friend Gauri Spratt on July 5 during a private ceremony at his residence. Previously, the actor was married to Reena Dutta and Kiran Rao.
Aamir Khan has faced criticism and security concerns in the past over political and religious controversies. However, the latest reports, particularly those involving an alleged reward for violence, have intensified concerns about his safety and the broader issue of hate-filled public rhetoric.
