Pakistan and Hong Kong are exploring new avenues for cooperation in financial services and digital assets. The discussions focused on digital bonds, tokenisation and regulatory innovation.
Minister of State and Chairman PVARA Bilal Bin Saqib MBE held talks with Christopher Hui. Hui serves as Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government.
The meeting examined how emerging financial technologies could improve capital formation and financial-market operations.
Pakistan and Hong Kong Discuss Digital Financial Markets
The discussions covered several areas linked to the future of financial markets. These included tokenised capital markets, digital bonds and settlement infrastructure.
Both sides also discussed regulatory innovation and the potential role of tokenisation. The technology could support more efficient financial-market operations and capital formation.
Bilal Bin Saqib highlighted Hong Kongโs experience in developing its financial architecture. He said that experience could offer valuable lessons as Pakistan builds its own next-generation financial system.
โPakistan has established the regulatory foundations for the virtual asset sectorโ, said Bilal Bin Saqib.
However, he said the next objective is to turn that regulatory framework into economic outcomes.
Focus Shifts Towards Investment and Real-World Applications
Pakistan also wants to attract reputable companies and encourage investment in the virtual asset sector. Therefore, the focus is moving towards practical financial applications and measurable economic activity.
Bilal Bin Saqib said Hong Kong could play an important role in connecting Pakistani technology companies with international investors.
The discussions also highlighted tokenised capital markets and regulatory technology. These areas could become important components of Pakistanโs developing financial architecture.
FinTech and Web3 Cooperation Also Explored
Bilal Bin Saqib also met Duncan Chiu, a member of the Hong Kong Legislative Council. Their discussions focused on technology, innovation and potential cooperation across several emerging sectors.
The talks explored possible collaboration in FinTech, Web3, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity.
These discussions broadened the scope of potential cooperation beyond digital assets. At the same time, they highlighted the growing importance of technology in financial services.
Bilal Bin Saqib also pledged to promote a secure and transparent virtual asset ecosystem. He said Pakistan would work with global financial hubs to support a more integrated ecosystem.
