ISLAMABAD: A prominent businessman, Amir Safdar Awan, was shot dead during a robbery at his farmhouse in Margalla Town, intensifying concerns over public safety in Islamabad. Meanwhile, CCTV footage showing armed suspects entering the residence has surfaced, aiding investigators.
The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of Shahzad Town police station. According to police officials, five armed men stormed the farmhouse and opened fire inside a bedroom, critically injuring Awan. Although rescuers rushed him to a hospital, he succumbed to his wounds during treatment.
In her complaint, the victimโs wife stated that she was present in the bedroom with her husband, while their sons, Asad and Aryan, slept in separate rooms. She reported that she awoke to three intruders assaulting her husband, while two accomplices stood guard outside with weapons.
Furthermore, the FIR revealed that the attackers shot Awan in the stomach before fleeing through a window. They also disarmed security guards and seized mobile phones before escaping.
Additionally, CCTV footage captured the suspects carrying Kalashnikovs and entering the property after cutting the security fence. Authorities believe this evidence will significantly support identification efforts. The victimโs wife added that family members and staff could recognize the suspects if presented.
Subsequently, police launched a full-scale investigation and began conducting raids to apprehend those involved.
Meanwhile, Talal Chaudhry assured that authorities would soon arrest the culprits, emphasizing a strong track record in solving similar cases.
