Islamabad High Court Summons Police Officials Over Disappearance of Poet Farhad Ali Shah

The Islamabad High Court has taken action on the request for the recovery of poet Farhad Ali Shah, known for his critique of state policies, by summoning the SSP investigation and the concerned SHO.

Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani of the Islamabad High Court presided over the plea for Farhad Ali Shah’s recovery. Representing the poet, lawyer Imaan Mazari informed the court that Syed Farhad Ali Shah is a journalist and poet hailing from Kashmir.

Mazari stated in court that Farhad Ali Shah was taken from his home during the night, with the abductors also confiscating CCTV footage from the premises.

In response to Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani’s query about any registered case against Shah, Mazari clarified that no case has been filed against him. Concerns were raised about his abduction for speaking out on Kashmir’s situation. Despite filing a request at the police station, no case has been registered.

The court has summoned the SSP investigation and the SHO of Lohi Bher police station to appear before it at 6 PM today.

Both officers are required to personally appear and explain the circumstances of Shah’s abduction, the reasons behind it, and his current whereabouts. They must also account for the absence of any registered case.

The recovery plea for the missing poet was filed by his second wife through Advocate Imaan Mazari, who sought an urgent hearing for the plea.

In the plea submitted by Farhad Ali Shah’s wife, Syeda Aruj Zainab, the Secretary Interior, Secretary Defence, DIG FIA, IGP, and SHO Lohi Bher police station have been named as respondents.

According to the plea, Farhad Ali Shah was abducted at 1 am from his residence in Soan Garden.
