The 5th Hubert H. Humphrey Alumni Conference, themed around Social Responsibility, was hosted by the United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP) in Islamabad from May 10-12.
Funded by the U.S. Mission to Pakistan and organized in collaboration with the Pakistan-U.S. Alumni Network (PUAN), the conference convened 100 Humphrey alumni from across Pakistan to exchange insights and experiences on social responsibility, education, inclusivity, and empowerment.
U.S. Ambassador Donald Blome commended the attendees for their dedication to social responsibility, recognizing their efforts in improving communities locally and globally. The conference, featuring notable speakers, highlighted the importance of public-centric policing, investment in women’s empowerment, and digital transformation to foster diversity. Alumni from diverse sectors shared their views on education, financial inclusion, and social responsibility in building a fairer society.
USEFP Executive Director Rita Akhtar praised the alumni’s commitment to social responsibility, education, ethics, inclusivity, and empowerment, emphasizing their positive impact on communities. The conference facilitated informative panel discussions and networking opportunities, allowing participants to stay abreast of recent research and connect with like-minded individuals dedicated to effecting positive change.
The Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program, funded by the U.S. government, provides mid-career professionals the chance to pursue studies at U.S. universities and collaborate with American organizations through professional affiliations. Since its inception in Pakistan in 1981, the Fellowship has been awarded to 311 professionals who now hold leadership positions across various sectors, contributing to policy-making and driving change through their initiatives.
USEFP, established in 1950 by the U.S. and Pakistani governments, has facilitated over 8,800 Pakistanis and 945 Americans in exchange programs.
