Punjab Female Police Officer Honored with IAWP’s ‘Excellence in Performance Award’

Riffat Bukhari, a police officer from Punjab, has been chosen by the International Association of Women Police (IAWP) to receive the ‘Excellence in Performance Award’ in recognition of her outstanding service and dedication to law enforcement.

In a letter addressed to Bukhari, IAWP President Deborah Friedl extended congratulations on behalf of the organization’s members, Board of Directors, and Recognition Committee, noting the competitive nature of this global recognition.

This prestigious award is bestowed annually upon a female police officer from anywhere in the world who has exhibited exceptional commitment to her community. Last year, the honor went to SSP Sonia Shamroz Khan from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The IAWP, which encompasses women police officers and those in various criminal justice roles worldwide, represents over 70 countries and 30 affiliate organizations. Its mission includes providing crucial opportunities for training, mentorship, collaboration, and networking.

SSP Bukhari, currently serving in the Punjab Safe Cities Authority, will be recognized at a formal ceremony during the 61st IAWP Annual Training Conference scheduled for September 1 to 5 in Chicago, Illinois, USA. The organization expressed hope for Bukhari’s attendance to receive the award in person.

Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Usman Anwar also commended SSP Riffat Bukhari’s achievement, emphasizing its significance for the entire police force, especially women officers.
