COAS Asim Munir and Iran’s President Raisi Hold Talks on Regional Peace and Border Security

General Asim Munir, the Army chief of Pakistan, held a meeting with Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi where they discussed various issues including regional peace, stability, border security, and mutual interests.

The focus of the discussion was primarily on topics of mutual concern, particularly regional peace, stability, and border security.

Both parties agreed on the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation while working together towards regional stability and economic prosperity.

General Munir characterized the Pakistan-Iran border as a “border of peace and friendship,” stressing the need for better coordination along the border to prevent terrorists from disrupting the longstanding friendly relations between the two neighboring nations.

President Raisi highlighted that through fostering cooperation between their armed forces, Pakistan and Iran can achieve peace and stability for both countries and the wider region.

Earlier, Pakistan and Iran had decided to enhance their bilateral relations across various domains including politics, economics, trade, and culture.

This understanding was reached during delegation-level talks between the two countries in Islamabad, led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif from Pakistan and President Dr. Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi from Iran.

During a press briefing, President Raisi stated that both countries had agreed to increase their trade volume to ten billion dollars. He also stressed the importance of promoting trade and business activities in border areas for the welfare of the local populations.

President Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi expressed the joint determination of Pakistan and Iran to combat terrorism and other organized crimes.

He expressed optimism that his visit to Pakistan would mark a significant milestone in expanding and enhancing bilateral relations between the peoples of Pakistan and Iran.
