Sukkur-Hyderabad Motorway
On Friday, Sindh Minister Nasir Shah called for the urgent completion of the Sukkur-Hyderabad motorway, emphasizing its significance for the region’s economic development.
During his statement, Minister Shah stressed the necessity for the federal government to prioritize this project within the federal budget to ensure its timely completion.
Minister Shah proposed that the motorway project could potentially be integrated into the broader China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) initiative, suggesting that such an inclusion could accelerate its development.
He highlighted the strategic importance of the Sukkur-Hyderabad motorway, describing it as a “backbone” of remittances, which underscores its value not only in terms of infrastructure but also its economic impact on the region.
Furthermore, Shah insisted that the motorway project should receive focused attention similar to that which is afforded to other high-priority ventures under the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC).

In a related development, another key issue addressed by the Sindh government involves efforts to combat street crime in the region, particularly in Karachi. Sindh Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon recently vowed to tackle this challenge head-on.
Memon noted that the new interior minister and the Inspector General (IG) are committed to making significant strides in curbing street crime across the city.
Karachi’s status as a large urban center brings unique challenges, including the management of illegal immigrants. Minister Memon disclosed that the authorities are working diligently to repatriate illegal immigrants to their countries of origin as swiftly as possible.
