Heavy rainfall in the UAE results in the cancellation of more than 40 flights for Pakistan

Due to unfavorable weather, flights in and around the United Arab Emirates are experiencing disruptions, causing delays, detours, and cancellations.

This situation has temporarily halted flight operations at Dubai Airport, a major global hub, which has led to the cancellation of over 40 flights destined for Pakistan.

Approximately 43 flights from Dubai to Pakistan have been cancelled, resulting in numerous passengers being left without travel arrangements.

The scheduled Pakistan International Airline (PIA) flights from Lahore to Dubai (PK-203), Dubai to Lahore (PK-204), and Lahore to Sharjah (PK-185) were unfortunately cancelled.

In a similar manner, the flight operated by SereneAir from Lahore to Dubai, flight number ER-1723, experienced a significant delay of over 10 hours.

The Emirates flight EK-622, which travels from Dubai to Lahore, experienced a delay of approximately three and a half hours. Additionally, the Lahore-Dubai flight EK-623 encountered a delay of four hours during the previous night.

On Wednesday, Dubai’s extensive highways faced congestion due to heavy flooding, prompting airport travelers to avoid the area. The luxurious financial hub struggled to cope with unprecedented rainfall.

An official advised that individuals should only visit Dubai airport, the globe’s most active in terms of international traffic, if it is absolutely essential.

“Flights are still experiencing delays and detours… We are putting in immense effort to restore our operations efficiently amidst extremely difficult circumstances,” stated a representative from Dubai Airports.

On Wednesday, Emirates, Dubai’s leading airline, halted all check-ins due to challenges faced by both staff and passengers. This occurred as a result of flooded access roads and certain suspended metro services, causing difficulties in arriving and departing.

At the airport, due to heavy rain on Tuesday, numerous passengers experienced extended waits in taxi queues, causing them to feel inconvenienced. As a result, many flights encountered delays, cancellations, and detours.

Overnight Monday and Tuesday, storms affected the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain, following their impact on Oman where a tragic incident occurred, resulting in the loss of 18 lives, including multiple children.
