Hajj Flights
The announcement from the spokesperson of Pakistan’s religious ministry on Friday brought clarity regarding the commencement of Hajj flights, set to embark on May 9 and extend until June 9.
This news arrives amidst anticipation as thousands of Muslims prepare to journey to Saudi Arabia to partake in the sacred pilgrimage.
Last year, Saudi Arabia restored Pakistan’s pre-pandemic Hajj quota, allowing for 179,210 pilgrims to participate, and eliminated the upper age limit of 65 years.
In 2023, over 81,000 pilgrims completed the Hajj under the government scheme, while others opted for private tour operators.
The outcomes of the Hajj 2024 draw were revealed by Pakistan in December 2023, with more than 63,000 applicants selected for the pilgrimage under the government’s auspices.
Emphasizing the importance of technology in modern pilgrimages, the spokesperson highlighted the necessity of smartphones for all pilgrims.
Mobile applications will be utilized throughout the holy journey, building upon initiatives such as the mobile application launched earlier by the former government.
Designed to assist pilgrims, the app provides comprehensive guidance from Hajj flight arrangements to accommodations in Saudi Arabia, including instructional videos for pilgrim training.
Furthermore, each pilgrim will receive a complimentary mobile SIM card from a Saudi company, providing 180 minutes for international calls, according to the then-interim religious affairs minister.
Preparations for the pilgrimage extend beyond technological aids. Chief master trainer Ahmed Nadeem Khan announced the commencement of the second phase of Hajj training on April 15.
Over 40 Hajj trainers will conduct sessions at 122 locations across Pakistan, focusing on new initiatives and addressing Hajj-related concerns.
Additionally, the spokesperson highlighted the forthcoming vaccination process, which will commence ten days prior to Hajj flights.
Pilgrims will receive essential supplies, including a suitcase, hand-carry bag, shoe bag, Ihram belt, and a green scarf adorned with the Pakistani flag, ensuring they embark on their journey adequately equipped.
