ISLAMABAD: Thousands of Muslims throughout Pakistan are going to perform the sacred tradition of Aitekaf, congregating in various mosques nationwide.
In Lahore, Mosques like Badshahi Mosque, Data Darbar, Masjid-e-Shuhada and Faisal Mosque in Islamabad have meticulously organized special arrangements, fostering an environment conducive to spiritual reflection and worship during these ten days.
Notably, Jami Masjid Data Darbar has welcomed over 2000 devout participants for Aitekaf, a practice involving seclusion in the mosque from the 20th of Ramadan, in pursuit of Lailatul Qadr (Night of Majesty) and seeking forgiveness from Allah through abstaining from worldly affairs.
This Sunnah of the Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) entails dedicated recitation of the Holy Quran, prayer, and earnest pursuit of divine blessings.
Remarkably, a significant number of women have also joined the Aitekaf City established in Lahore, with separate arrangements made for their accommodation.
The participants will conclude their Aitekaf upon the sighting of the Eid moon, signifying the culmination of this spiritually enriching journey.
Meanwhile, the sacred month of Ramadan not only brings abundant blessings but also offers unique avenues for worship, among which is the practice of aitkaf.
During aitkaf, devout individuals choose to seclude themselves in devotion to Allah during the final 10 days of Ramadan.
The renowned Faisal Mosque in Islamabad extended the opportunity for worshippers to observe aitkaf during Ramadan. The mosque’s management has unveiled the details for the aitkaf program in 2024.
This year, a maximum of 300 individuals got the privilege to participate in aitkaf at Faisal Mosque.
Applicants were required to submit their applications by the 10th day of Ramadan. Application forms are obtainable from the Islamic Center affiliated with the mosque. A non-refundable fee of Rs5,000, payable through a bank draft, accompanies the application.
