In a heart-wrenching incident unfolding in Khairpur district, the bodies of three children, reported missing the day prior, were tragically found within a box at their residence on Wednesday, according to police sources.
The minors, comprising two siblings and their cousin, vanished from an area under the jurisdiction of the B-Section police station in district Khairpur. Identified as Mehnaz (5 years old), Madad Ali (4 years old), and Arif, the children accidentally trapped themselves inside the box while engrossed in play at home, succumbing to suffocation.
Upon receiving notification from the distressed family regarding the discovery, law enforcement authorities swiftly responded, relocating the bodies to the hospital for further examination. An ongoing investigation has been initiated to unravel the circumstances leading to the tragic demise of the young ones.

Last year, the caretaker government introduced the Zainab Alert, Response, and Recovery App (ZARRA) to facilitate citizens in promptly reporting missing children. Launched by former caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar during an event commemorating Universal Children’s Day on November 20, 2023, the ZARRA App allows users to upload the child’s photo, provide relevant information about the disappearance, and disseminate alerts. Integrated with all police stations nationwide, the application enables users to monitor the investigation’s progress and receive updates on the child’s status.
Additionally, in 2019, the former PTI government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa unveiled the ‘Mera Bacha Alert’ mobile application, designed to aid in the recovery of missing children within the province. This initiative aimed to empower parents to swiftly report missing children, triggering alerts to relevant law enforcement authorities for immediate action, thus bolstering efforts to ensure the safety and security of the nation’s youth.
