Two siblings, a 12-year-old girl and an 11-year-old boy, who disappeared from outside their residence near North Nazimabad’s police station, have safely returned home, confirmed Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) Central Zeeshan Siddiqui to Geo News on Wednesday.
SSP Siddiqui disclosed that in their statements to the police, the children revealed they had left home of their own accord. He mentioned his intention to personally interview the siblings shortly to document their accounts.
The incident unfolded a day prior when the youngsters reportedly vanished from Karachi’s North Nazimabad area.
According to the uncle of the missing children, the 12-year-old and 11-year-old ventured out of their house around 11 pm on Tuesday, prompting a missing persons report to be filed.
Initially, SSP Siddiqui indicated that the parents’ separation and ongoing custody disputes might have played a role in the disappearance.
The police initiated an inquiry into the matter from multiple angles and lodged a missing persons case at North Nazimabad’s police station against unidentified individuals.
The mother of the missing children expressed anguish, stating that her offspring had been absent since midnight.
She recounted their futile search efforts and lamented the lack of information from law enforcement regarding their whereabouts.
“I separated from my husband nine years ago, after which he remarried, and I relocated to Dubai. I entrusted my children to my mother for their education,” she explained.
Despite the children’s safe return, questions surrounding their nocturnal departure and the circumstances leading to it persist. Authorities continue to investigate the incident to ascertain all relevant details and ensure the well-being of the siblings.
