LAHORE: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has summoned Shandana Gulzar, a parliamentarian affiliated with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), following her accusations against Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. Shandana Gulzar MNA is slated to appear before the FIA on March 14.
The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has formally filed a complaint with the FIA in response to allegations raised by Shandana Gulzar, who is aligned with the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC), against Punjab’s Chief Minister, Maryam Nawaz.
Uzma Bukhari, the Information Minister of Punjab, has urged Shandana Gulzar to provide concrete evidence to support her claims. Bukhari, emphasizing a commitment to preventing any attempts to evade legal processes, declared, “We will not allow her to flee.”
Meanwhile, another influential figure within the PTI, Sher Afzal Marwat, asserted during a press conference outside the National Assembly, “We possess telephone recordings.” Marwat alluded to Maryam Nawaz’s involvement, stating, “Maryam Nawaz’s name has surfaced. We will share this recording with investigators,” in response to media inquiries.
The evolving situation introduces an additional layer of complexity to the political scenario, as prominent figures from opposing political factions engage in a public exchange of accusations, setting the stage for a potentially contentious legal investigation.
