RAWALPINDI: Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, visited the Rawalpindi Ring Road on Thursday and directed the authorities to ensure the completion of the project by December.
During the visit, officials from NESPAK (National Engineering Services Pakistan) and FWO (Frontier Works Organization) briefed the chief minister on the progress of the Rawalpindi Ring Road Project at the Tehraiya site.
The chief minister was informed that the project, which commenced in September 2023, was on track for completion by February 2025. Currently, 24 percent of the work on the 38.3 km long Ring Road Project has been completed.

The project involves the construction of five interchanges, 11 overpasses, bridges over two rivers, six canals, and a railway bridge. Additionally, 15 subways and 53 small bridges are planned along with the construction of a rest area on the Ring Road.
Emphasizing the importance of the project for the citizens’ transportation ease, Maryam Nawaz stated that industrial zones would also be established along the project, generating employment opportunities for the local population.
She expressed her commitment to completing the project before the stipulated deadline, stressing that the most important public welfare project should not face delays.
Maryam Nawaz further directed that the interchanges on the Rawalpindi Ring Road be named after their respective villages. The visit included the presence of former Senator Pervaiz Rasheed, Members of the Assembly Marriyum Aurangzeb, Uzma Bukhari, Sania Ashiq, Chief Secretary, concerned secretaries, Commissioner Rawalpindi Division, and other officials.
