LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Chief Organiser, Maryam Nawaz, and Australia’s High Commissioner to Pakistan, Neil Hawkins, met in Lahore on Wednesday to discuss and resolve issues related to women’s empowerment and climate change.
During the meeting, both parties agreed to focus on the agricultural sector to boost the country’s economy. Maryam and Hawkins emphasized the need for bilateral efforts to enhance capabilities in the agricultural sector and resolved to ensure the participation and leadership of women from all walks of life.
Expressing gratitude for Hawkins’ visit, Maryam Nawaz highlighted that former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif would lead the government. Speaking at the parliamentary party meeting of PML-N Punjab in Lahore, Maryam acknowledged the youth’s role in the recently held elections, congratulating all the lawmakers.
Furthermore, Maryam Nawaz emphasized the need for unity within the party to serve the masses and expressed her aspiration to become the first female chief minister of the country.
Reflecting on Nawaz Sharif’s previous tenure, Maryam mentioned initiatives like the health card in 2015-16 and pledged to launch the air ambulance for the first time in Punjab. She also outlined plans to establish additional units in every city for the treatment of various medical conditions.
In connection with Ramadan, Maryam assured efforts to provide relief packages to around seven million households during the month. The meeting between Maryam Nawaz and Neil Hawkins signals a collaborative approach to address key issues in Pakistan, particularly focusing on women’s empowerment and agricultural development.
