Commonwealth Distance Learning Scholarships provide opportunities for candidates from least developed and lower middle-income Commonwealth countries to pursue part-time Master’s study via distance learning in selected courses offered by UK universities.
The application deadline for these scholarships is March 28, 2024. Eligible countries include Bangladesh, Cameroon, Eswatini, Ghana, Guyana, India, Kenya, Kiribati, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Nigeria, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Rwanda, Samoa, Sierra Leone, Solomon Islands, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, The Gambia, Tuvalu, Uganda, Vanuatu, and Zambia.
These scholarships aim to support citizens of developing Commonwealth countries and are funded by the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO). They contribute to the UK’s international development goals and broader overseas interests, fostering excellence in UK higher education while upholding the principles of the Commonwealth.
The scholarships cover a range of themes, including:
- Science and technology for development
- Strengthening health systems and capacity
- Promoting global prosperity
- Strengthening global peace, security, and governance
- Strengthening resilience and response to crises
- Access, inclusion, and opportunity
Candidates awarded these scholarships will have the opportunity to pursue distance learning Master’s programs offered by UK universities, contributing to their professional development and capacity building in their respective fields.
How to apply: The CSC’s online application form is now open.
- You should apply to study an eligible Master’s course at a UK university that is participating in the Distance Learning scheme.
- You must also secure admission to your course in addition to applying for a Distance Learning Scholarship. You must check with your chosen university for their specific advice on when to apply, admission requirements, and rules for applying. You must make your application using the CSC’s online application system, in addition to any other application that you are required to complete by your chosen university.
- The CSC will not accept any applications that are not submitted via the online application system.
- You can apply for more than one course and/or to more than one university, but you may only accept one offer of a Distance Learning Scholarship.
