PPP and PML-N Reach Power-Sharing Agreement: Candidates for Top Positions Announced

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) have reached an agreement to share power, as announced in a joint press conference at Bilawal House. Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari revealed that Shehbaz Sharif will be the joint candidate for prime minister, while Asif Zardari is the joint candidate for president.

Addressing the media, Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari emphasized that the party known as Sunni Ittehad Council lacks the numbers to form a government. Independent members were invited to form the government if they had the necessary numbers. Shehbaz Sharif highlighted the combined strength of the PPP and PML-N, asserting that they have sufficient support to form the government at the national level.

Shehbaz Sharif mentioned that the collaboration goes beyond voting together for important positions; both parties are committed to working together for the country’s betterment. He stressed that taking the government is a matter of selflessness and sacrifice, not merely a matter of taking turns.

As the leaders spoke about their collaboration, Zardari urged the nation to pray for the success of the new government, emphasizing that all their efforts are dedicated to Pakistan and future generations.

While the leaders did not immediately disclose the distribution of offices, sources indicate an agreement between the two parties. According to reports, PML-N is set to nominate candidates for prime minister, governor of Sindh, Governor of Balochistan, and speaker National Assembly. On the other hand, the PPP will nominate candidates for president, Senate chairman, and governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The detailed distribution of roles is expected to be announced in the coming days.
