In a recent meeting between Javed Miandad, the legendary Pakistan cricketer, and Mohsin Naqvi, the Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Miandad expressed his willingness to contribute towards the advancement of cricket in the country.
Miandad extended his congratulations to Naqvi on assuming the role of PCB chairman and discussed strategies to promote and develop Pakistan cricket on sustainable grounds. He also commended Caretaker Punjab Chief Minister Naqvi on the successful launch of the Pakistan Super League 9 in Lahore, expressing optimism about the future of Pakistani cricket under Naqvi’s leadership.
Expressing his availability to assist in cricket’s improvement, Miandad emphasized his commitment to the sport’s progress. Naqvi, acknowledging Miandad’s status as a cricket legend, expressed his eagerness to benefit from Miandad’s vast expertise.
Naqvi outlined his vision to restore Pakistan’s original standing in international cricket and underscored the importance of teamwork and consultation to strengthen the national team. He highlighted plans to bolster domestic cricket to nurture talented players.
Naqvi assumed the role of PCB chairman unopposed for the next three years on February 6. The PCB’s Chief Election Commissioner, Shah Khawar, confirmed Naqvi’s appointment during a press conference, succeeding Zaka Ashraf in the Board of Governors.
Khawar clarified that Naqvi could concurrently hold the position of PCB chairman and Chief Minister, as there were no legal or constitutional restrictions preventing him from assuming both roles simultaneously.
