PESHAWAR: On Friday, the Peshawar High Court (PHC) granted a one-month protective bail to Omar Ayub Khan, the designated Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate for the Prime Minister position.
The decision was a response to a plea made by Omar Ayub’s legal counsel, who outlined the multiple cases registered against the PTI leader in various cities, including Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, and Gujranwala.
Acknowledging the cumulative 23 cases presented in court, the Chief Justice of PHC clarified that a total of 24 pleas had been submitted. The counsel argued that Omar Ayub Khan, as a candidate for the Prime Minister position, required one month of bail.

In response, Chief Justice Ibrahim Khan granted a one-month protective bail to Omar Ayub Khan, ensuring that no arrest would be made during this period. This legal safeguard allows Omar Ayub Khan temporary protection as he pursues his candidacy for the Prime Minister position, providing him with the necessary legal space amid potential legal challenges.
Omar Ayub Khan’s victory in the National Assembly constituency NA-18, Haripur, with 192,948 votes, marked a significant achievement. Following a meeting with the incarcerated PTI founder, Asad Qaiser announced Omar Ayub Khan as the party’s candidate for the Prime Minister slot.
The granted protective bail now offers him a legal shield while navigating the intricate political landscape and addressing any potential legal issues arising from the cases against him.
