In an address at an election rally in Burewala town of Vehari district, PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif expressed dismay over the current economic situation and pledged to address inflation, unemployment, and infrastructure challenges if his party is elected. He criticized the previous PTI government for the steep rise in prices and compared the cost of living during his administration to the present.
Sharif reminisced about the relatively lower prices of essential goods during his tenure and highlighted the stark increase in utility bills and agricultural costs under the PTI government. Mr Sharif said, “Don’t you remember my [last] rule when the prices of essential items were far less than the present day? Roti was available for Rs4, electricity bill of Rs500 is now touching Rs20,000, and farm inputs and machinery are now five times costlier.”
He empathized with the unemployed youth in the audience, attributing joblessness to the policies of the previous administration.
