Lieutenant General (retd) Faiz Hameed, former DG ISI, has strongly refuted allegations of meddling in the judiciary concerning the dismissal of former Islamabad High Court Judge Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui.
Through his lawyer Khawaja Harris, General (retd) Faiz Hameed submitted a response to the Supreme Court, denying any mention of an alleged meeting before the Judicial Council in Shaukat Aziz’s speech. He emphasized the unequivocal rejection of the meeting’s request and asserted that he never contacted Shaukat Aziz.
In the broader context of the case, former Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court, Justice (R) Anwar Kasi, also responded, rejecting the allegations made by Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui. Brigadier (retd) Irfan Ramey similarly denied the accusations and meetings presented by Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui in his reply.
Justice (R) Anwar Kasi stated that no secret agency attempted to influence during his tenure and highlighted the absence of any supporting material for Shaukat Siddiqui’s allegations. Shaukat Siddiqui’s concerns about the bench hearing indirect appeals and questioning the integrity of fellow judges add complexity to the ongoing case, underscoring the intricacies within the judiciary and the necessity for a thorough examination of the allegations.
