AI Technology
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has utilized artificial intelligence for the second time to convey a message from former Prime Minister Imran Khan during a virtual convention on Sunday. PTI’s social media chief, Jibran Ilyas, announced the delivery of the “2nd authorized AI voice message of Imran Khan based on his notes from Jail” during the International Convention.
This marks the party’s second deployment of AI technology, following a virtual rally in December where a four-minute video, created with a voice clone, was shared on social media platforms. The audio, accompanied by historic footage and images of Khan, garnered attention on Facebook, X, and YouTube.
The convention on Sunday, moderated by journalist Moeed Pirzada, featured a panel including Salman Akram Raja, Khaled Beydoun, Ryan Grim, Sami Hamdi, Dr. Mubeen Shah, and Turgay Evren. Imran Khan’s message, played at the conclusion of the two-hour event on YouTube, was subsequently shared on X and Facebook.
The virtual rally held the day before garnered over 300,000 views on YouTube and attracted a live audience on various social media platforms. However, global network monitor NetBlocks reported social media restrictions for three hours during the event, a claim contested by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority, which attributed the disruption to a technical fault.
Caretaker Information Minister Murtaza Solangi also shared the post, and by 10 pm, internet services were fully restored nationwide. The PTI continues to leverage AI technology for innovative communication strategies amid a digital landscape.
