World Economic Forum
ZURICH: Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar arrived in Switzerland on Sunday to participate in the 54th annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF), scheduled to commence tomorrow. Welcomed in Zurich by Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to Geneva, Bilal Ahmed, Swiss Ambassador Amir Shaukat, and other senior diplomatic officials, the premier’s visit underscores Pakistan’s commitment to global economic dialogue.
The visit, spanning from January 15 to January 19, includes a series of engagements, including a keynote address by PM Kakar on the theme “trade tech’s trillion dollar promise.” The focus of his participation extends to three key thematic events: “preventing an era of global conflicts,” “restoring faith in the global system,” and “preventing economic fractures.”
In addition to addressing these critical topics, PM Kakar is set to hold meetings with government and business leaders on the sidelines of the event. He will also lead an “invest in Pakistan” event, highlighting the country’s economic potential and inviting international investment.
The World Economic Forum, hosting over 300 public figures, including more than 60 heads of state and government, aims to provide a platform to discuss fundamental principles driving trust, such as transparency, consistency, and accountability among global leaders. The annual meeting serves as a crucial space to connect the dots in an increasingly complex environment, offering foresight by introducing the latest advances in science, industry, and society.
As Pakistan actively engages in international economic discussions, PM Kakar’s participation in the World Economic Forum underscores the nation’s commitment to fostering global partnerships, promoting transparency, and exploring opportunities for economic growth and cooperation. The caretaker prime minister’s presence is expected to contribute to the constructive dialogue on pressing global issues.
