ISLAMABAD: In a significant move towards technological advancement, the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) and NADRA Technologies Limited (NTL) have formalized a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), marking the initiation of a strategic collaboration in the research, development, and innovation of biometric technologies.
The meeting, held at the NADRA Headquarters, signifies the commitment of both institutions to strengthen industry-academia linkages, fostering a collaborative environment for technological innovation.
NADRA Technologies Limited, recognized as a leading system integrator, specializes in digital identity solutions through its flagship Pakistan ID stack. With nearly two decades of experience, NTL has been a key player in e-governance, e-passport services, smart identity cards, and civil registration, earning national and global recognition for its contributions to digital transformation.
NUST, a premier computer science university in Pakistan, boasts a global ranking of 160 in engineering and technology. Known for its commitment to multidisciplinary higher education, research, and innovation, NUST plays a pivotal role in advancing industry-academia linkages. In this collaboration, NUST focuses on research and development in areas such as Contactless Biometrics and Face Liveness Detection Technologies.
NTL commended NUST’s cutting-edge initiatives, particularly highlighting the TrueID application developed under the National Software Technology Park (NSTP). Both parties expressed enthusiasm for further developing this biometric application, aiming to enhance advanced services for Pakistani citizens through locally developed technology.
The partnership entails collaboration in various research and development initiatives, including facial recognition, contactless biometrics, e-KYC, Digital Onboarding, Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS), and Automated Biometric Identification System (ABIS). The alliance is poised to foster local innovation in the realm of biometric and identity-related technologies, contributing to Pakistan’s technological landscape.
