On Wednesday, a polio vaccination team in Chaman found themselves in a perilous situation when they came under attack by unknown assailants. The assailants, for reasons yet unclear, launched a violent assault on the polio workers, putting their safety at risk and disrupting a crucial public health campaign.
Amidst the chaos, a Balochistan Levies Force personnel, tasked with providing security for the polio team, bravely intervened to protect the health workers from the assailants. However, the situation took a turn for the worse as the attackers directed their aggression towards the security officer, beating him with sticks in a brutal assault.
The consequences of the attack were evident as the security officer sustained injuries during the course of his duty. In the aftermath, swift action was taken to address the security officer’s condition, and he was promptly transported to the hospital for urgent medical attention.

Meanwhile, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) administration has made the decision to temporarily suspend the scheduled polio vaccination drive in the districts of Tank and Dera Ismail Khan due to escalating security concerns. Sources reported this development on Sunday, revealing that the vaccination campaign, initially set to commence on December 18, has been delayed, marking the second such postponement in recent months.
This precautionary move follows a series of terrorist attacks in the aforementioned districts, including a targeted assault in Tank where three police officers lost their lives. The incident occurred in the Police Lines area on Friday, prompting concerns about the security of the region.
