Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir commended Pakistani-American businessman Tanweer Ahmed for his generous donation of $9 million toward building an IT Tower at Islamabad’s National University of Science and Technology (NUST), according to a statement by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
General Munir, who is on a visit to the United States, interacted with the Pakistani overseas community during a reception hosted by the Embassy of Pakistan.
The ISPR statement noted that COAS Munir met Tanweer Ahmed during the reception and expressed appreciation for his significant contribution to IT development in Pakistan. The army chief emphasized that Pakistan is proud of individuals like Tanweer Ahmed.
During the interaction, various topics were discussed, and COAS Munir praised the positive role played by the Pakistani overseas community in the progress and development of the country.
He welcomed and encouraged the diaspora to invest through the Special Investment Facilitation Cell (SIFC), which has already shown success in various dimensions.
COAS Munir highlighted the significance of the Pakistani diaspora, stating that they are considered ambassadors of Pakistan and make significant contributions in various domains.
Additionally, during his visit to the US, General Munir met with key government and military officials, addressing concerns about the situation in Palestine and advocating for a two-state solution during a meeting at the UN Headquarters in New York.
National Aviation Policy Overhaul: Revised Fees for Diverse License Categories Unveiled
In another development, to ensure the stable presence of companies, the National Aviation Policy has adjusted fees for various air service license categories.
According to the updated aviation policy, applicants seeking a passenger and cargo Regular Public Transport (RPT) License must provide an initial security deposit of Rs 100 million along with Rs 600 million in paid-up capital.
For those aspiring to obtain a tourism license, the updated policy mandates an initial cash security deposit of Rs 10 million along with a paid-up capital of Rs 50 million.
Applicants for Charter Service License Class – I are required to pay Rs 50 million along with an initial cash security deposit of Rs 10 million. Charter Service License Class – II demands a more substantial financial commitment, with a requirement of Rs 100 million in paid-up capital and an initial cash security deposit of Rs 20 million.
