United Insurance has successfully acquired the entire business and undertaking of SPI Insurance as approved by the High Court of Sindh. The court sanctioned the merger scheme, leading to the transfer of SPI Insurance Company Limited’s entire business to United Insurance Company of Pakistan.
Following the court’s authorization, the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) has taken action by revoking the registration of SPI Insurance Company Limited as an insurer, as per the provisions of sub-section (2) of Section 9 of the Insurance Ordinance 2000.
As a result, SPI Insurance Company Limited no longer exists, and any ongoing business activities or liabilities incurred by it are now the responsibility of United Insurance Company of Pakistan Limited.
Policyholders of SPI Insurance are advised to reach out to United Insurance Company of Pakistan Limited for any claims or responsibilities related to their insurance policies.
PTA Announces Relief: No SIM Return Charges Until December 31, Urges Users to Report Violations
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has clarified that users who disown unused or unnecessary SIMs will not incur any charges until December 31.
The PTA issued this clarification in response to a query on social media, where a user reported being charged by their network for the return of their SIM, despite the cutoff date not being reached.

According to the PTA, consumers facing such issues can file a complaint with the PTA through the helpline, the Authorityโs web portal, or the mobile application.
In November, the PTA announced that telecommunication operators could charge users up to 200 for disowning their SIMs. However, this charge could be avoided if SIMs were returned by December 31.
The PTA emphasized that by returning SIMs before the specified date, consumers could avoid disowning charges and contribute to the responsible usage of SIMs. The regulatory measure was implemented to uphold the PTA’s commitment to national safety and security.
