Legal Challenge Unleashed: Petition Targets President Alvi, Alleges Misuse of Office

ISLAMABAD: A petition has been lodged with the Supreme Court of Pakistan, leveling accusations against President Arif Alvi for allegedly abusing his presidential authority and bringing it into disrepute.

The petitioner has urged the court to either prohibit Arif Alvi from exercising his presidential powers or to oust him from his position. Ghulam Murtaza, the citizen filing the petition, asserted that President Arif Alvi has misappropriated his authoritative role, tarnishing the dignity of the presidential office.

Emphasizing that the president represents the entire nation rather than any specific political party, the petition contended that Arif Alvi has devoted the presidential office to activities aligned with the PTI.

The petition highlighted President Arif Alvi’s alleged unconstitutional actions, asserting that it was the president’s responsibility to announce the date of general elections, a duty he purportedly neglected. The petitioner further claimed that the president failed to ensure the implementation of the Constitution under Article 5. Consequently, the petitioner insisted that President Arif Alvi should be restrained from carrying out his presidential duties, and appropriate measures should be taken against him for violating the Constitution.
