Former bureaucrat and Caretaker Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azam Khan, passed away after being brought to the hospital last night due to cardiac arrest, as confirmed by the hospital administration. The private hospital has officially announced the death.

Muhammad Azam Khan, the former bureaucrat, had been appointed as the interim chief minister with the primary responsibility of ensuring transparent elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa while maintaining law and order.

Some individuals initially confused him with his namesake, Azam Khan, the principal secretary to then-Prime Minister Imran Khan until early April 2022.

Overall, The sad demise of former bureaucrat and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Caretaker Chief Minister Azam Khan deeply saddens the community. The funeral for Azam Khan is scheduled for 3:30 pm today.

  • Chairman of the Pakistan Tobacco Board, Ministry of Commerce, Peshawar.
  • Secretary for the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Resources, Islamabad.
  • Secretary for the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
  • Chief Secretary for the Government of KP from September 1990 to July 1993.

Meanwhile, The Punjab Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) conducted intelligence-based operations across Pakpattan, Rawalpindi, Bahawalpur, and Sahiwal, resulting in the arrest of five suspected terrorists.

CTD officials identified an important Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) commander, Nadeem, among the detainees in Pakpattan.

The arrested individuals, namely Nadeem, Shehbaz, Khalid, Madni, and Salman, were allegedly planning attacks on sensitive installations, according to CTD officials.
