Prominent American-Pakistani entrepreneur, Tanweer Ahmed, has initiated a defamation lawsuit against two Pakistani journalists based in the United States. The lawsuit targets Kamran Jilani, a private TV reporter in Houston, and Raja Zahid A.

Khanzada, a Dallas correspondent, for allegedly damaging Tanweer Ahmed’s reputation through false accusations made on their Meta (Facebook) posts. These accusations revolve around Ahmed’s supposed involvement in a campaign to have Tahir Javed removed from his role as an advisor to Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar on overseas investments.
Recently, Tahir Javed, a Texas-based Pakistani-American businessman, was appointed as the Special Assistant on Investment to Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar but was swiftly removed from his position after just three weeks due to a scandal.
Tanweer Ahmed’s legal counsel, C. Thomas Schmidt of the Schmidt Law Firm in Houston, has sent “cease and desist” letters to both journalists, demanding the removal of their defamatory posts, financial compensation for the harm caused to Tanweer Ahmed’s reputation, and public apologies. Failure to comply with these demands may result in legal proceedings.
The case against Raja Zahid Khanzada centers around a defamatory Facebook post made on October 17, in which Khanzada referred to Tanweer Ahmed as “Houston’s Black Chicken Man,” making negative insinuations about his character.
In Kamran Jilani’s case, he posted false accusations against Tanweer Ahmed on October 17 and October 25, 2023, asserting that Ahmed engaged in dishonest and malicious behavior by orchestrating a smear campaign against Tahir Javed, a fellow American-Pakistani businessman. Jilani also referred to Ahmed as a “mafia don” who damaged U.S.-Pakistan relations and undermined Tahir Javed. Jilani further falsely claimed that Ahmed funded the education of a senior Pakistani official’s son at the University of Maryland.
Tanweer Ahmed’s legal team maintains that Jilani’s allegations are baseless and amount to libel and slander. They argue that the false and exaggerated statements have seriously harmed Ahmed’s reputation and business relationships in the United States, potentially necessitating financial compensation for the damage.
