RAWALPINDI: Terrorists attacked two vehicles carrying security forces in Gwadar, resulting in the martyrdom of at least 14 soldiers, according to a statement by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). The incident occurred as the security convoy traveled from Pasni to Ormara in Gwadar district.

The ISPR vowed to conduct a sanitization operation in the area and bring the perpetrators of this heinous act to justice. They expressed the security forces’ determination to eradicate terrorism in the country, emphasizing that the sacrifices of brave soldiers strengthen their resolve.

In recent months, Pakistan, with a population of 240 million, has experienced an upsurge in terrorism, with groups like the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) intensifying their actions against security forces. In response, the state has launched operations to combat terrorism.

COAS General Syed Asim Munir stated that the armed forces and their security and intelligence setups have been fighting terrorism effectively despite the support of inimical forces. He expressed confidence in the continued support of the Pakistani people for future success.

A report by the Centre for Research and Security Studies (CRSS) in October highlighted the loss of at least 386 security personnel in the first nine months of 2023, marking an eight-year high.

The third quarter of 2023 saw 445 casualties and 440 injuries in 190 terror attacks and counter-terror operations.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan were identified as the primary centers of violence, accounting for nearly 94% of all fatalities and 89% of recorded attacks, including terrorism incidents and security force operations.
