Food Poisoning Accusations
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) called for an emergency meeting on Tuesday in response to the food poisoning claims made by their imprisoned party chairman, Imran Khan.
The meeting, set to occur shortly, aims to examine the information provided by Khan to his legal team regarding the alleged poisoning.

PTI used social media to share a video featuring Mr. Khan’s lawyers informing the media about their meeting with the former prime minister in jail. The former ruling party emphasized that Imran Khan had previously cautioned the nation about potential slow poisoning attempts.
The party further urged the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) and Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court (CJ IHC) to intervene and promptly put an end to these alleged attempts. PTI’s spokesperson stated, “His conversation with lawyers once again confirms the threat to his life.”
Imran Khan Arrested and Banned
Law enforcement in Lahore arrested former Prime Minister Imran Khan at his Lahore residence on August 5. He was sentenced to three years in prison for corruption charges in the Toshakhana case by an Islamabad court, which had convicted him in absentia.
The court issued an arrest warrant, ordering him to serve his sentence in Rawalpindi’s central jail in Punjab province. Additionally, the conviction imposed a five-year ban on Khan holding any political office.
