ISLAMABAD: A significant development has occurred as the Ministry of Interior has granted approval for the issuance of a red warrant for Zulfi Bukhari, a prominent leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and a former federal minister for overseas Pakistanis.
This decision marks a new chapter in the ongoing legal proceedings against Zulfi Bukhari, who has been residing abroad.

The Ministry of Interior instructed the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to formally request the Interpol Secretariat in France for the issuance of a red warrant for Zulfi Bukhari.
This action is part of a concerted effort to apprehend and extradite him to Pakistan in connection with his alleged involvement in a case registered under the Anti-Terrorism Act at Golra police station on March 18.
The case against Zulfi Bukhari originates from his participation in the PTI’s “Jail Bharo Tehreek,” which began on February 22. He was the first to voluntarily surrender as part of the party’s protest, but later left the country.
During the campaign, 47 PTI workers and leaders who surrendered to the police were initially taken to Adiala jail and later transferred to Shahpur jail in Sargodha.
Rana Sanaullah, a former interior minister and a prominent figure in the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), alleged that Zulfi Bukhari and two other PTI leaders left the country as part of a conspiracy. In response, Bukhari vehemently denied these claims and criticized Sanaullah’s accusations.
Bukhari stated, “I’m providing my departure details and information about the airport. I left for business and was scheduled to return on May 6. It doesn’t take this much effort and airtime to figure it out,” in response to Sanaullah’s comments made during a TV show. He found it amusing that the former minister was attempting to portray his departure as a major conspiracy.
