On Saturday night, Punjab’s Anti-Corruption Establishment conducted raids in an attempt to apprehend Ahmed Mujtaba, the brother of former first lady Bushra Begum, in connection with a corruption case. The raids were carried out in Sahiwal, Okara, and Pakpattan.
These operations targeted the residences of former members of provincial and national assemblies, including Rai Hassan Nawaz and Murtaza Iqbal, as well as the house of former MPA Naeem Ibrahim and political leader Saleem Sadiq. However, no arrests were made, as the individuals being sought managed to evade capture in each instance, according to a statement from the ACE.
Ahmed Mujtaba is wanted by the Anti-Corruption Establishment in relation to a corruption scandal that was initiated in 2022. The allegations against him involve the improper leasing of government land through an intermediary.
Sheikh Rasheed Expresses Uncertainty About His ‘Chilla’ in Social Media Post
Meanwhile, a few days after making a mysterious appearance in a televised interview following a prolonged absence from the public eye, seasoned politician Sheikh Rasheed made an appeal for assistance in his “mission” to secure the release of individuals imprisoned due to their involvement in the May 9 protests.
In a social media post on Sunday, just two days after the broadcast of his interview, Rasheed expressed his uncertainty about the whereabouts of his “chilla,” referring to his absence as mentioned during the interview. However, he clarified that during his 40-day period of self-confinement, he had not suffered any harm and extended his gratitude to those who had prayed for his safe return.

Rasheed outlined that his newfound “life’s mission” was centered around rescuing individuals who were either in hiding after making the “mistake” of participating in the May 9 protests or were incarcerated despite their innocence. He also urged his social media followers to support his efforts to secure a “general amnesty” for all those imprisoned or in hiding.
Rasheed expressed optimism that with the nation’s prayers, he could achieve success in this mission. In his earlier interview, he characterized former Prime Minister Imran Khan as a “stubborn” politician and identified the impediment in General Asim Munir’s appointment as army chief as a significant blunder.
