ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani expressed deep concern over the escalating hostility in the Middle East and the loss of innocent lives.
In a tweet, he stated that we express our solidarity with the Palestinians and demand an immediate cessation of violence and oppression by Israeli occupation forces.
Jalil Abbas Jilani emphasized the necessity of establishing a viable and sovereign State of Palestine based on pre-1967 borders and UN resolutions. He called on the international community to intervene, end the conflict, protect civilians, and work towards lasting peace in the Middle East.
The conflict between Israeli forces and the Palestinian group Hamas continued to intensify on Sunday, resulting in hundreds of casualties on both sides following a surprise attack on Israel. Benjamin Netanyahu warned that they were embarking on a lengthy and challenging war.
This deadly escalation in decades witnessed Hamas conducting a massive rocket barrage and launching ground, air, and sea offensives early Saturday. According to Israel’s army, these actions resulted in the deaths of over 200 Israelis and left 1,000 wounded.
