The Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) of Peshawar has filed a First Information Report (FIR) against the prominent business figure Malik Riaz and three others. This legal action is a result of their alleged failure to secure a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the Bahria Town Housing Society located in Peshawar.
The FIR specifically names Malik Riaz, along with Hina Malik, Hamid Riaz, and Amir Rashid Awan, asserting that the society lacks the necessary documentation required for the establishment of a private housing society, thereby violating the regulatory framework in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

Prior to this development, Feroze Jamal Shah, the information minister of KP, had issued a warning to potential property buyers, advising them to exercise caution when engaging in property transactions within Bahria Town Peshawar.
Sources indicate that the police are currently formulating a plan of action and have initiated the process of gathering statements from local residents regarding the acquisition of land for the housing project.
The controversy surrounding Bahria Town Peshawar centers on the selection of land in Kafur Dheri for the development of this Bahria Town project. This choice has been a longstanding and contentious issue, marked by disputes between the family of Mahmood Jan, the former Deputy Speaker of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, and the Isa Khel tribe. The primary source of conflict lies in the conflicting claims of the Isa Khel tribe over the territory of Kafur Dheri, which has fueled hostilities and periodic tensions between the two factions over an extended period. Tensions often flare up whenever there is an opportunity for dispute.
