ISLAMABAD: The family of the murder victim in Ranipur has filed a complaint, stating that SHO Khanwahin is issuing threats of abduction and murder.
Ten-year-old child maid, Fatima, died in the Haveli of Asad Shah in Ranipur, and a video of her death went viral on social media.
“Fatima’s mother has lodged a complaint, alleging that SHO Khanwahin Ghani Dayo is issuing threats to abduct or kill her and using derogatory language against her deceased daughter,” she said.
“She further alleged that SHO Khanwahin police has been acting on behalf of the Ranipur pirs and demanded protection from the Khanwahin police officer.”
During a visit to the family, the caretaker home minister of Sindh directed action against the current SHO, who is still in charge.
Police arrested Pir Fayyaz Shah, a co-accused in the murder case of the child maid Fatima Phuriro. Sources familiar with the matter said that police apprehended Fayyaz Shah while returning to his haveli after a press conference. The Sindh High Court’s Hyderabad bench had granted interim bail to Fayyaz Shah.
An anti-terrorism court, on Thursday, granted a five-day physical remand for the accused Asad Shah and co-accused Imtiaz Meerasi in the murder case. According to DIG Sukkur Javed Jiskani, the postmortem report confirmed that the minor maid had been sexually abused.
Following the incident, the police arrested the main accused, Asad Shah.
