Bilawal urges ECP to announce election date
ISLAMABAD: On Monday, Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, the Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), emphasized that his party is the true representative of the masses.
Speaking to the media in Tandlianwala, Mr. Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari called on the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to announce the date for the general elections.
He criticized his opponents, stating, “Some people mistakenly believe that the PPP has no interest in Punjab politics. We will prove them wrong.”
Mr. Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari affirmed, “We will address issues such as inflation, unemployment, security, and the democratic process.”
Demand for early polls
On Friday, Bilawal Bhutto renewed his call for the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to announce the election date promptly. He conveyed PPP’s concerns about a level playing field to co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari during a press conference at Bilawal House Lahore following a meeting of the PPP central executive committee. Bilawal emphasized PPP’s presence in Lahore and alleged past electoral conspiracies involving prominent figures. He also highlighted the need for economic relief for the public, particularly in addressing inflation and high electricity costs.
Elections: The Sole Remedy
Bilawal reiterated that the country’s political and economic crisis can only be resolved through elections. He demanded that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) promptly announce the election date.
Bilawal further called for providing relief to flood-affected areas by designating them as calamities. He expressed sympathy for minorities impacted by the Jardanwala tragedy.
Bilawal Bhutto stated that discussions about alliances or cooperation with other political parties will take place after the election announcement.
