ISLAMABAD: In an unexpected move, a local court in the federal capital issued non-bailable arrest warrant for Samia Arshad, the widow of senior journalist Arshad Sharif.
On October 23, Arshad Sharif was killed in the Kenyan capital Nairobi. He was living there in self-exile. He was a senior journalist and former ARY News anchor.

Judicial Magistrate Abbas Shah took active measures by issuing warrants against Samia Arshad and 18 others. They had not appeared in court as witnesses in the Arshad Sharif murder case.
The FIR lists Arshad Sharif’s wife, son, producer Ali Usman, and 16 others as witnesses. The state registered it into the murder of senior journalist Arshad Sharif. The slain journalist’s family clarified that they did not request the FIR, and they have already rejected it.
Kenyan investigative journalist Brian Obuya expressed concern about the prolonged investigation into the murder of Arshad Sharif.
He criticized the investigators for not releasing any reports or disclosing the names of the accused Kenyan policemen involved in the journalist’s assassination.
Punjab Government Establishes Committees To Combat Electricity Theft
Meanwhile, the Punjab government has formed three committees to monitor and take strict action against offenders.
These committees will oversee the campaign against electricity theft, identify commercial consumers involved in theft, and take appropriate action.
The district enforcement committees, led by the respective deputy commissioners, will include the district police officer and a Special Branch officer as members.
