Tikka Masala
A former detective inspector turned whistleblower at the British county of West Midlands Police has revealed that personnel deputed for close protection of Malala Yousafzai referred to her as “Tikka Masala.”
Rebecca Kalam, who previously accused West Midlands Police of racism, misogyny, and poisonous behavior, shared that she overheard some of the education activist’s protection guards using the derogatory term “Tikka Masala” on a couple of occasions.

She recently won an employment case against the force, which accepted a total of 75 complaints.
During her 10 years with the force, Kalam claimed that her fellow officers referred to duty in central Birmingham as “pussy patrol,” where they would sit “gawking” at women and discussing their potential liaisons.
She also reported instances of sexual misconduct, including a colleague exposing himself to her and another attempting to sexually assault her.
She further alleged that during training exercises, male colleagues subjected her to strip searches and instructed her, as an ethnic minority, to be the unit’s “model girl.”
Malala Yousafzai, a 14-year-old Pakistani student, was airlifted to Birmingham’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital in 2012 after being shot in the head by Taliban gunmen for advocating women’s education. She went on to become the youngest recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize.
