A three-member special bench, headed by the CJP, heard Imran’s plea to dismiss the case

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Supreme Court has upheld the decision to avoid arresting PTI Chairman Imran Khan in relation to the murder case of lawyer Abdul Razzaq Shar.

On Thursday, Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Atta Bandial, leading a three-member special bench, presided over the hearing of Imran’s plea to dismiss the case.

Imran Khan’s legal representative, Latif Khosa, was in attendance during the court session, while the complainant’s lawyer, Amanullah Kanrani, was absent due to medical reasons.

Khosa expressed relief at the peaceful atmosphere in the courtroom, especially in contrast to the disruptions that marred the previous hearing.

Chief Justice Bandial recognized that the court had additional inquiries regarding the case. However, he commented that the absence of the complainant could hinder the proceedings.

During the hearing, an assistant advocate petitioned the highest court to adjourn the proceedings and set a new hearing date.

The assistant advocate pressed the top court to postpone the hearing and arrange a fresh date.

Upon this request, the CJP adjourned the case and instructed the registrar’s office to schedule a new date after the summer recess.
