ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar has stressed the importance of expeditious legal measures against those who violate children’s rights, ensuring that they are swiftly brought to justice.
The Chairperson of the National Commission on the Rights of Child (NCRC), Ayesha Raza Farooq, called on the caretaker Prime Minister in Islamabad today.
PM Kakar urged the need for effective legislation to ensure the protection of children’s rights. He also urged to provide maximum support to the National Commission for Child Rights.
He commended the National Commission for Child Rights for its performance under the leadership of Ayesha Raza Farooq.
During the meeting, Chairperson Ayesha Raza Farooq congratulated Anwaar ul Haq Kakar on assuming the office of Prime Minister. She expressed her best wishes.
She provided a briefing to the Prime Minister on the current situation of child abuse and child labor in the country.
The meeting took place in the wake of an increasing number of cases. These cases are related to the torture of minor housemaids being reported in the past few months.
Notably, a nine-year-old girl named Fatima Fariro was discovered dead at a mansion. The mansion is owned by a local influential figure, Pir Asad Shah, who is currently in custody. Videos depicting signs of abuse on the innocent girl’s body had also emerged.
In the video, the child can be seen suffering in distress at the employer’s house. Later, Fatima’s body was buried without a post-mortem examination.

Meanwhile, the house of Gul in Dera Ghazi Khan was raided by both teams, who meticulously searched the premises. However, Ms. Gul was not found at home during the raid.
Officials asserted that Gul had been implicated in taking commissions from development projects. They stated that she was being pursued in cases involving corruption and kickbacks. She was exhibiting non-cooperation in the ongoing investigation.
