KARACHI/ISLAMABAD: Following the disturbing case of the alleged rape, torture, and murder of a 10-year-old girl by a Pir in Sindh’s Ranipur, another shocking incident has surfaced there. A young girl from the Qambar-Shahdadkot district, who was sent to the mansion of another influential individual, has reportedly gone missing.
Deedar Gurhmani, a resident of Qambar town, sent his 20-year-old daughter Sana to the mansion (Haveli) of Pir of Ranipur Syed Sohail Ahmed Shah in Khairpur’s Ranipur area a year and a half ago, seeking protection and assistance with his problems. However, Gurhmani received a call from Shah a month ago, informing him that his daughter had disappeared from the mansion.
Deedar Gurhmani traveled to Ranipur to confront Pir Sohail regarding his daughter’s disappearance. However, Sohail responded with misconduct and told him to leave. Deedar Gurhmani has appealed to higher authorities to aid in the recovery of his missing daughter.
Meanwhile, Sindh caretaker Chief Minister Justice (retired) Maqbool Baqar has taken note of the incident. He directed the Sukkur divisional commissioner and DIG to investigate the matter and ensure the safe recovery of the missing girl.
The recent murder of 10-year-old Fatima at Pir Asad Shah Jeelani’s mansion, which led to allegations of torture, had already shocked the nation. There are concerns that the girl might have faced sexual abuse before her demise. The post-exhumation autopsy report released on Monday also indicated such suspicions.
The district police swiftly arrested Jeelani, a member of the influential family from Ranipur town in Khairpur district, as soon as the case came to light. Shah is presently in police custody, and legal proceedings are underway in a local court in Ranipur.
