RAWALPINDI: The military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), has reported that a 60-year-old civilian was martyred and three women were traumatized due to unprovoked firing by Indian troops in the Nikial Sector along the Line of Control (LoC). The ISPR identified the civilian as Ghias from Village Oli in District Kotli. The women were affected while cutting grass in fields.
The ISPR strongly condemned this act of aggression, labeling it as a violation of existing ceasefire agreements. It emphasized Pakistan’s desire for peace and tranquility along its borders. It also affirmed that all necessary measures would be taken to safeguard citizens’ lives and property.
Furthermore, the ISPR warned India that any misadventure against Pakistan would be met with a suitable response at a time and place of Pakistan’s choosing. This statement underscores Pakistan’s commitment to protecting its citizens and maintaining peace while cautioning against any escalations or provocations.
Cross-LoC firing martyrs two civilians
This marks the second such incident reported within the past two months along the Line of Control (LoC). In June, two Pakistanis lost their lives while one got injured due to the firing of the Indian Army.
In response to this incident, ISPR stated that the Indian army’s indiscriminate firing on a group of shepherds in the Sattwal Sector demonstrated their customary inhumane approach towards innocent Kashmiris. Consequently, one civilian was martyred, and two others sustained critical injuries. An update later confirmed the death toll had risen to two as another injured individual succumbed to their injuries.
The ISPR highlighted that such actions by the Indian forces seemed to be driven by perceived geopolitical support. These actions result in the loss of innocent lives to serve their false narratives and fabricated accusations. This sentiment was indirectly linked to a joint statement issued after the meeting between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Joe Biden.
These incidents underline the ongoing tensions along the LoC and the tragic impact of cross-border firing on civilian lives.
