2023 K-POP Festival in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: The Embassy of the Republic of Korea organized the 2023 K-POP Festival in Pakistan, which took place at the Pakistan National Council of Arts in Islamabad on 18th August 2023. The K-POP Festival was a big success as a huge number of people attended and enjoyed the exhilarating performances of young K-POP fans.

H.E. Mr. Park Kijun, the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea, along with Mr. Ahtisham Hussain, the Head of the Department of Korean Language and Culture, representatives from various Korean companies, and a substantial gathering of students and K-POP enthusiasts, attended the 2023 K-POP Festival in Pakistan.

Dr. Atif Faraz, The Director of the King Sejong Institute, Ms. Saima Sallahuddin, Assistant Professor at the National Council of Arts, and Ms. Ayesha Durrani, Associate Professor at the National Council of Arts were the judges for the 2023 K-POP Festival in Pakistan.

The K-POP Festival had two categories Vocal and Dance. The performers from both categories performed extremely well. All the participants were very well aware of the Korean K-POP culture.

The Ambassador of the Republic of Korea H.E. Mr. Park Kijun appreciated the performances of all the participants and performers. His Excellency mentioned that the 2023 K-POP Festival had a special significance this time as this year marks the 40th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between Korea and Pakistan. His Excellency mentioned that it is indeed incredible how culture and music can connect different people from all across the globe. He said that culture is one of the many unifying factors between the people of Pakistan and Korea.

He went on to emphasize that holding such festivals regularly is crucial, as they contribute to increased people-to-people interactions and further bolster the relations between the two countries. His Excellency shared that he was quite hopeful and optimistic in regard to the future of the bilateral ties between Korea and Pakistan.

The winners from both the Vocal and Dance categories were encouraged by gift prizes. The people who attended also received gift hampers from the Embassy of the Republic of Korea.
