Passenger bus caught fire near Pindi Bhattian, resulting in 16 fatalities and 15 injuries

PINDI BHATTIAN: A passenger bus collided with a pick-up truck carrying diesel drums and caught fire on the Faisalabad Motorway near Pindi Bhattian. The accident resulted in 16 casualties and 15 injuries, including women and children. The bus had around 35-40 passengers on board and was traveling from Karachi to Islamabad. Among the deceased were the drivers of both vehicles.

The incident occurred around 4 am near the Pindi-Bhattian Interchange when the bus struck a pick-up van transporting diesel drums. The bus was quickly engulfed in flames after the collision, as reported by District Police Officer (DPO) Dr Fahad.

The injured individuals were taken to Pindi Bhattian and Faisalabad Hospital under the supervision of the medical superintendent. DPO Dr. Fahad provided additional details, stating that 18 bodies were recovered from the bus and would be identified through DNA testing.

Over the last few months, numerous heartwrenching accidents have occurred across the country. The details are as followed;

In a separate incident in July, five individuals, including a woman and two minors, lost their lives, and 20 others were injured when a bus overturned in Punjab’s Rajanpur district. The bus was carrying devotees of a Sufi saint and was returning from Sakhi Sarwar to Jacobabad. The accident occurred due to the negligence of a driver as he was allegedly sleeping.

This tragic event followed another unfortunate occurrence near Babusar Top. A tourist bus carrying eight people caught fire and fell into a deep gorge.

Before that, a similar accident in the Thalichi area of Diamer district on July 16 claimed six lives.

In June, a passenger bus overturned on the Islamabad-Lahore motorway near Kallar Kahar. It resulted in the deaths of at least 12 individuals and injured 24 others. The bus was en route from Rawalpindi to Lahore.
