New Chief Secretary Appointed for Sindh Following the Removal of Sohail Rajput

ISLAMABAD: The senior bureaucracy underwent reshuffling just a day after the caretaker cabinet was sworn in. Sohail Rajput is removed and a new Chief Secretary is appointed.

After receiving PM Kakar‘s approval, the Establishment Division executed transfers that affected various senior bureaucrats.

The transfers encompassed the Chief Secretaries of Sindh, Balochistan, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir, in addition to the federal Interior Secretary, Cabinet Division Secretary, and Islamabad Chief Commissioner.

According to the notification, Muhammad Fakhre Alam Irfan, a Grade-22 officer of the Pakistan Administrative Service who is currently serving as Secretary of the Housing and Works Division, has been selected to take on the responsibilities of Chief Secretary in Sindh.

Furthermore, the restructuring brought about several other notable appointments. Syed Asif Haider Shah assumed the position of Secretary of Climate. A D Khawaja was appointed as Secretary of Human Rights.

Additionally, Humera Ahmed received the appointment to the role of Secretary of National Heritage and Culture.

Daud Muhammad embraced the position of Chief Secretary for AJK. Shakil Qadir Khan undertook the mantle of Chief Secretary for Balochistan.

Ali Raza Bhatta was appointed as Secretary of Science and Technology. Sara Saeed was designated as the Special Secretary of the Commerce Division.

Mustafa Kamal Qazi assumed the role of Director General of Passport and Immigration. Erum Anjum Khan was appointed as the Maritime Secretary.

Furthermore, Captain Retired Muhammad Anwarul Haq was designated to serve as the Chief Commissioner for Islamabad.

Meanwhile, Rana stated this in response to PPP concerns about the delay in general elections due to fresh delimitations.

He pointed out that the PPP agreed to the approval of the Census during the Council of Common Interests (CCI) meeting.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) said on Thursday that the elections could not be held in 90 days due to the fresh delimitations process following the notification of the 2023 census. The Council of Common Interests (CCI) approved the Census.
