Latest update brings noticeable change through the addition of ‘HD’ icon
ISLAMABAD: Historically, sending photos on WhatsApp led to reduced size and quality due to processing. An encouraging update now addresses this concern, focusing on improvement. As the issue of lower resolution is actively resolved, the anticipation for “HD photos” becomes a reality, marking a significant and eagerly awaited enhancement.

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced via his Meta broadcast channel on Instagram, โSharing photos on WhatsApp just got an upgrade. Now you can send in HD.โ

In the context of WhatsApp, the term “HD” now signifies the ability to send photos at resolutions of up to 4096 x 2692. Notably, the option for ‘standard’ quality, which resizes images to 1600 x 1052, remains available.
However, resolution isn’t the sole consideration; compression also plays a crucial role. The extent of compression for “HD” photos on WhatsApp hasn’t been disclosed but this enhancement assures users of a higher resolution to elevate their visual experience.
The latest update introduces a visible change through the inclusion of an HD icon. Users can now actively select this icon to pick between the two quality presets.
It’s important to highlight that the end-to-end encryption continues to safeguard all images, regardless of whether they are in HD or not.
The global rollout of this feature has already commenced, although it might take a few weeks for all users to access it.
Moreover, the ability to share “HD” videos is expected to become available shortly after this update.
This upgrade primarily aims to empower users to share exceptional moments with greater clarity, guaranteeing that friends and family can fully appreciate each intricate detail.
In a separate advancement, numerous reports indicate that Meta’s messaging platform is rolling out a novel feature for forwarding messages within channels on both the Android and iOS platforms.
The company officially announced this addition through its channel, disclosing that users now have the capability to share messages from channels with their contacts.
Interested users can confirm the availability of this feature in their accounts by actively selecting the ‘forward’ action on a message.
